Guitar lessons for children 8 and up - Lessons for children are fun and engaging and taught in a light, bright environment conducive to learning and musical exploration! Kids enjoy learning how to:

• Strum simple chords to children's song, folk songs, and easy pop tunes
• Play simple melodies
• Learn basic music concepts, like basic note reading and keeping time to the music.

Teenagers have varied musical tastes! In addition to the basics of the guitar, like chord strumming and simple melodies, we teach the chords, riffs, and solos to their favorite songs in these genres, to name a few:

• Vintage rock - Boston, Led Zepplin, Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, etc.
• Folk Rock - Grateful Dead, CSNY, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Indigo Girls, etc.
• Pop/Rock - Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Beach Boys, REM, etc.
• Country and Folk - Travis picking and chord/bass strumming
• Jazz - Songs from the early and more recent Jazz eras
• Heavy metal - Metallica, Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath and AC/DC,
• Plus many other genres of guitar music!

Many adult guitar students have a lifetime of musical influences! We love to teach our beginning and intermediate adult guitar students to play songs of the 1960's up through the present time.

Kids and adults can learn to play the classical guitar! We start by teaching basic finger style picking and music reading. Soon, and with practice, the student will be able to read and play simple and charming classical pieces, many of which have been recorded by classical guitar masters like Andrés Segovia and Julian Bream.
